This work was featured in the Beaton Gallery for Columbus College of Art and Design senior thesis exhibitio in March of 2013. In this solo exhibition, I utilized the entire space of the gallery to focus on one piece: Ghost of Nature.
The painting (48"x34" oils on panel) is placed behind a support beam, blocking the view when entering the gallery. Walking towards the painting, the audience must gather around in a crowded and enclosed semi circle as they watch a projected digital animation of an Indigo Bunting feast on the corpse of an albino deer. Ambient sounds of nature and bird calls fill the room, as the picking of flesh and tearing of tendon echo repeatedly, almost as if it were a mechanical heartbeat.
